Our Core Values

LOVE: We recognize that those who follow Christ are enveloped by His love which has been revealed through Jesus’ own death. Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” As a congregation, we place emphasis where God the Father does, love coming from a place of self-sacrifice to those who do not deserve it.

FAITH: We understand that faith is simply an outward demonstration of inner transformation. Those who trust the Lord display actions and speak words that align to their trust in Him. We know that people who have faith in God share in His suffering and are evidenced by the favor and preservation He bestows on their lives. (2 Corinthians 5:7).

SERVANTHOOD: We acknowledge that a heart of servanthood stems from a perpetual filling of the Holy Spirit (Philippians 2:13) coupled with an authentic appreciation of receiving the forgiveness of God (Luke 7:37-50). We make a distinction between self-righteous, self-affirming servanthood and servanthood of faith, the main difference being that one acknowledges full dependence and obedience to God’s will for His glory (Proverbs 3:5-6) rather than serving others out of one’s personal motive or subjective idea of good works (Luke 18:9-14).

DISCIPLESHIP: Discipleship is defined as a lifelong process of learning and growing in faith by following Jesus Christ. It includes learning from the Lord and choosing His way moment by moment, trusting that His will and righteousness is best. We do not expect disciples to follow Christ perfectly, but we do encourage one another with the same call as He does (1 Peter 1:15-25) and point people to Christ when they confess misalignment to His purpose for their lives (1John 1:9).

SPIRITUALITY: To understand true spirituality is to rectify the duality of the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21) versus the fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-25). We believe spirituality, therefore, involves operating in newness of life, being birthed into the kingdom of God by the Holy Spirit as it is written in John 3:6, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.
